Michelle Wise – Matron of Honor

Ashley, Michelle, & Austin
How do you know the "bride-to-be"?
She is my adorable younger sister, even though I look up to her… literally!

What is her most wonderful quirk?
I love how she hates to talk loud, and she gets embarrassed and annoyed when someone does talk loud… sometimes she mumbles in disgust.

What is your favorite memory of Ashley?
There are so many, but I would have to say the most fun was living in Village Farms and talking to each other on our walkie-talkies instead of going to bed like we were supposed to!

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
It won’t always be easy and there will be tons of compromises you will have to make. In the end though, you will both grow together and become stronger as a couple. Just hold on for the ride… it’s worth it!

How do you know the "bride-to-be"?
I met Ashley our junior year of college through common friends. We have shared millions of laughs in just a few short years of friendship. Coupled with several late night chats, we had many a run to get to know each other well. I could always count on Ashley for the needed comedic breaks during long study sessions, something to wear when nothing worked in my closet, and a cooking lesson or two after I burned my grilled cheese. I am so honored to be a part of her big day (especially with such a wonderful groom to compliment her fabulousness ☺!). Looking forward to spending the rest of our lives as close “couple” friends!

What is her most wonderful quirk?
Ashley has a most wonderful move when she gets startled or taken by surprise. Someone has coined it the “duck and cover” move, and it is most appropriate. Just imagine that tall, near 6 ft. of body collapsing to a pile on the ground with her arms over her head in less than a second (note: she is usually screaming). It’s usually quite a site!

What is your favorite memory of Ashley?
There are truly so many. They span from Ashley trying to use her Wegman’s card as a hotel room key to her planning a scavenger hunt around campus our senior year. She was a wonderful support system when things got tough, and she could answer every food question in the book (in fact, she many have written the book – see her PH.D. thesis).

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
Just have fun. You get to live with the man of your dreams for the rest of your life ☺.

How do you know the "bride-to-be"?
Ashley and I were both "adopted" by a wonderful group of amazing ladies our Junior year at Cornell. After ending up on the same floor of the house, just down the tiny hall from each other, we became close friends who have shared hilarious memories ever since. As someone who is horrible at keeping in touch, this is one friend I will never lose track of – I am so thankful to have a friend like Ash and so honored to have the privilege of being a part of this special day.

What is her most wonderful quirk?
Oh man, this is tough. Apart from our mutual anti-spooning attitude ("Shotgun Ash as my bed partner!" haha), I would have to say her most wonderful quirk revolves around her mind boggling dance moves that might appear at any moment. I mean, these moves not only defy the laws of physics, but also the grumpiest bar patrons we've ever encountered (oh you NEVER tell us there's no dancing allowed!).

What is your favorite memory of Ashley?
Another toughie! I guess I would have to say that my favorite memory of Ash is our quality time at the kitchen table, chatting over a bottle of wine, while waiting for the rest of the crew to get ready. While we've shared too many laughs to count, Ash has been a steadfast ally through the tough times, too, and has always been there to offer words of advice, encouragement, and support.

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
As a nerdy counselor-in-training, I have to pass on a funny article suggested by my family therapy teacher: "What Shamu Taught Me About a Happy Marriage." Google it. Do it. And I love you both like whoa!

How do you know the "bride-to-be"?
She is my soon to be sister-in-law!!

What is her most wonderful quirk?
She likes my brother.

What is your favorite memory of Ashley?
I think my favorite memory of Ashley happened when she wasn't even around. My mother and I were discussing Griffin and Ashley's relationship and we both came to the conclusion that Griffin better not screw it up!! We are so excited he didn't!

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
Enjoy every moment of your wedding day! It goes by too fast!!

Shelly Harbert – Bridesmaid

How do you know the "bride-to-be"?
I know Ashley from high school. She was my absolute best friend! We did everything together. I believe it all started in freshman year gym class. I pulled her under my wings and introduced her to all of my friends from middle school and they instantly loved her.

What is her most wonderful quirk?
Back in high school, I remember her always wanting to make up new dances. She was on the Poms squad and was really really good. I just remember being in her bedroom and her trying to teach me a new dance that she had made up for us. I was terrible... I am sure I was! But we had a blast and she kept teaching me. I think it eventually faded away by senior year and I began sitting back and watching her practice her new dances for Poms. Poms was such a huge part of Ashley's life and I was far from that, but we both still loved each other and our company and we remained best friends.

What is your favorite memory of Ashley?
I have so many! We definitely shared a lot of laughs and cries. Some memories that really stand out to me are: staying the night at her lake house (especially that night when we laid on the raft in the lake at night talking and looking up at the stars), our pillow fights, our trips to get chocolate ice cream with strawberries on top, girls nights, writing notes to each other (I still have a lot of them!), crying in her room and her dog Paulie licking my tears away, scrap booking and looking through pictures, Spring Break in Cancun, and having Ashley as my Maid of Honor in our wedding.

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
1. During your first dance as husband and wife, look into each others eyes and relax, just live in that moment! The day will go by so fast but that is a great time to take it all in.
2. Enjoy every day being husband and wife... finally living together!
3. Give each other at least 1 compliment a day.
4. You can never say "I love you" too much.
5. Never leave the house during an argument - life is too short and not worth it. Kiss and make up because 9 times out of 10 it's a pointless and silly argument anyway!
6. When you to are ready... and you will know it... have children! They will be absolutely adorable and you two will be wonderful parents!
7. Date nights are not overrated - do them!  At least once a month...especially when the kids do come.
8. Be faithful and loyal. Be supportive and understanding. Love with your whole heart everyday!

Rob Miller - Groomsman

Griffin & Rob
How do you know the "groom-to-be"?
Let's just say, I met Griffin pledging AGR fraternity, enough said. Since then, he's acted as my financial go-to, travel buddy, and now, marrying my wife's best friend. (There is now definitely a vested interest in our friendship.)

What is your favorite memory of Griffin?
Favorite memory? Griffin trying to rent horses in Argentina, but instead, in his best Spanish, asking to "ride the cowboys" ☺ (caballos... not, vaqueros!)

Looking forward to the big day, and many good times ahead.

Austin Moag - Groomsman

Griffin & Austin
How do you know the "groom-to-be"?
Well... Griffin and I are brothers.

What is your favorite memory of Griffin?
My favorite memory with Griff would be the Winter Classic game in 2008 and tailgating with Buffalo, NY's finest. There is nothing like hanging out at Ralph Wilson stadium in the middle of a Western New York snowstorm.

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
Words of Wisdom: Do what you Ashley tells you to do, you're probably being stubborn, and after all, Ashley is the PhD.

Brett Barlass - Groomsman

Griffin & Brett
How do you know the "groom-to-be"?
You know how Solar Eclipses are talked about for days and weeks before you actually see them. Griffin Moag was introduced to me along those same lines. Never met him, but sure heard a lot about him. I knew who most of the kids I was rushing our fraternity with. But there was one name who kept coming up, Griffin Moag. On the night we were given bids, here comes this tight lipped, choir singing, Economist. He later turned out to be one of my good friends.

What is your favorite memory of Griffin?
This is not my most favorite memory with Griffin, but one that sticks out and is told whenever I get the chance. When we were seniors a handful of us went to Acapulco for spring break. We were only there for 5 nights and 2 of those nights Griffin decided to stay in and read Guns, Germs, and Steal. When the group would roll out of bed and eventually track down Griffin, he would be sitting the beach reading again. He would have the day planned out for us and how we were going to do it. That trip is when I decided, when there are important decisions to be made, Griffin is the one we need to find. I still hold true to that, although it is getting hard for me to track him down. I usually have to leave him a complete lie of a message about my soon-to-be baby or gossip on one of our friends to warrant a call back.

What words of wisdom do you have for the newlyweds?
As I am not married, nor have I ever been, I don't feel comfortable giving advice. I would say that however, that as long as you always remember the 3 most important words "I'll do dishes" you should be OK.
